Sinus Grafting for Dental Implants!

Considering dental implants to replace missing teeth? While many patients have ample bone and space to undergo their dental implant procedure smoothly, some may require additional procedures in order to ensure proper placement. When there isn’t enough bone height in the upper jaw or if the sinuses are too close, a dental implant will require a sinus lift to ensure adequate bone for placement of the implant. For those who have enlarged sinuses or less jawbone density, Dr. Stein offers sinus grafting to lift the sinuses and add a bone graft—allowing for dental implants to be properly inserted.

Your Sinus Graft Procedure

Dr. Stein uses the latest dental technology to lift the sinus membrane away from the jawbone. By doing so, ample space is created above the jaw for bone grafting to support your dental implant. The materials for your bone graft can come from a variety of sources. Dr. Stein has developed a very successful bone graft combination in his many years of practice.  In some cases, synthetic materials, such as xenograft and/or INFUSE® bone grafting material, can be used to encourage bone growth. Once your graft is placed, the bone requires a period of about 4-6 months to heal and integrate with the jaw. Dr. Stein has developed a minimally invasive technique to add bone around the sinus area, often avoiding the need for “conventional“ sinus elevation procedures.

After your healing period ends, Dr. Stein is ready to place your dental implants. Implants are inserted into the jawbone and bond over time. These implants look and feel like your natural teeth—allowing you to eat virtually any food!

Sinus grafting can help those with enlarged sinuses or low jawbone density. Patients who have lost bone due to factors like gum disease and tooth loss can lift the sinus to create additional room.
