All-On-4® Dental Implants

All-on-6® Dental Implants

All-on-6® dental implants restore the entire upper or lower teeth using just 6 implants per arch. Sometimes referred to as full mouth dental implants, this procedure provides patients with a permanent, natural-looking smile restoration. All-on-6® implants are safe and effective for patients dealing with a majority of lost, damaged, or decayed teeth. All-on-6® dental implants are often preferred over traditional tooth replacement methods like dentures and dental bridges. Full mouth dental implants help preserve the jawbone and look and function like natural teeth!

All-on-6® Dental Implants:

  • Are more secure than All-on-4® dental implants
  • Are durable and long-lasting
  • Can be treated like natural teeth
  • Have a relatively short recovery time
  • Only require one in-office visit to place the implants and same day temporary teeth
  • The procedure is performed under IV sedation for patient comfort

What are all-on-6® dental implants?

All-on-6® dental implants are an entire fixed prosthetic arch placed on six implants, created to replicate your natural teeth. They are used to replace missing teeth or partially missing teeth of the entire upper or lower jaw. Full mouth implants eliminate the need for a single implant for each missing tooth, resulting in a quicker operation time and healing process. The advanced placement of all-on-6® dental implants is planned using special computer software to precisely prepare for and guide your surgery. All-on-6® dental implants are ideal for patients who experience extensive tooth loss, or who require full mouth restoration.

The additional 2 implants that all-on-6® provide further stimulate jawbone density to protect against jawbone loss over time. When jawbone density loss is of greater concern for an individual, all-on-6® provides a viable option for a solid and secure foundation for years to come. Additional support and stability, and even distribution of pressure within the mouth are benefits of the six implants. They are designed to replicate the natural feeling of teeth in terms of form and function and are a long-lasting solution to restoring your smile.

What can all-on-6® dental implants do for me?

Dr. Stein at New York Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center can address the loss of teeth by placing all-on-6® implants, replacing the missing or damaged teeth, and repairing the look and feel of your smile. Dr. Stein will work closely with your dentist, or a dentist can be recommended if you do not have one, to make the teeth that will be connected to the all-on-6® implants. There are many potential causes for the loss of teeth such as periodontal disease, age, poor dental hygiene, and accidents. The ideal candidates for all-on-6® dental implants are patients who have lost most or all of their teeth. Patients that have traditional dentures are also good candidates for all-on-6® dental implants. All-on-6® dental implants, all-on-4® dental implants, and all-on-x® dental implants offer patients advantages over past tooth reconstructive procedures, learn more below.

What should I expect from all-on-6® dental implant procedure?

Our oral surgeons will meet with you to determine if you are a candidate for all-on-6® dental implants. Our oral surgeons will fully evaluate your jaw for bone density or bone loss, by using a tool called a Cone Beam CT scan. Unhealthy or loose teeth will be removed before your all-on-6® dental implants are placed. Using virtual planning software, a guided surgical template helps our oral surgeons to position your dental implants safely and accurately. You will be fitted with temporary teeth that are placed on your implants following the surgery.

During the all-on-6® procedure, our oral surgeons will make cuts to open the gum and expose the bone. Openings are made in the jawbone to accommodate the implants and six dental implants are placed, which will act as your “roots” of the new teeth.  You will then be fitted for temporary teeth that are worn as your implants fuse to your gums and jawbone. This portion of the process is made by a separate restorative dentist. The healing and fusing process is called osseointegration. After the healing process is completed, your dentist will place your permanent teeth onto the all-on-6® implants.
